Art writer, curator, and cultural strategist Veronica Pesantes-Vallejo has built a career between storytelling, research, and community engagement. Through her writing and curatorial projects, she explores how art reflects identity, migration, and the social histories that shape culture today.
Born in Quito, Ecuador, and raised in Dallas, Texas, Pesantes-Vallejo’s life has unfolded across multiple cultural spaces. Those experiences have shaped the way she approaches art history and curatorial practice. She studied at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid, interned at the Prado Museum and managed international education programs at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Her journey through the art world has taken many turns before leading her back to writing and curating full time.
In 2024, she founded Miami Art Hang, a platform dedicated to making contemporary art more accessible while encouraging deeper conversations about artists and their work. Through essays, tours, and exhibitions, she connects audiences with the cultural context behind the artworks they encounter. In this conversation, Veronica reflects on her path into the art world, how writing and curating shape one another, and why art remains a powerful tool for healing and community resilience.
