Veronica Pesantes (B.A. ’94) is this week’s featured alum in our new Alumni Spotlight series for the This Week at Meadows e-newsletter. Each week, a different Meadows alum will be highlighted for their accomplishments post-graduation.
Students in Meadows’ art history program are encouraged to explore how art connects to culture, politics and society. Art history alum Veronica Pesantes has built a career in the global arts world and now channels that experience into her entrepreneurial venture, Miami Art Hang. As a writer, curator, cultural strategist, and art advisor, Pesantes works to deepen public engagement with art while guiding both collectors and novices through Miami’s vibrant contemporary scene.
Pesantes’ time at Meadows was pivotal in shaping her three-decade career in the arts. Between influential faculty and hands-on museum experience, she began to approach art through a broader cultural lens. In fact, sitting in Dr. Alessandra Comini’s art history classes not only inspired her to become an educator and scholar, but to think about art in a more socio-political manner.
